I wanted to refresh my look and went to this salon with very little clarity on what I wanted. The booking process was very smooth and Misha (the owner) was very responsive. Once I reached there, Maria (the stylist) talked to me for a while until I was sure of what I wanted. We discussed what kind of color I wanted, whether we want to do a global or balayage along with my hair texture. At this moment I knew that I could completely trust Maria with my hair. And then she proved it right, she gave me a beautiful teddy/champagne balayage which turned out to be better than my expectations. They use Aveda colors and Misha informed me about these being plant-based and less harmful than regular colors. I’d recommend this salon to anyone looking for a place to get a hair transformation around GTA. ~ Radhika T

This was my first time at this salon and I’m so happy I went. The staff are so friendly fly, I was offered coffee, tea or water as soon as I walked in. I saw Priya for my haircut. I was initially leaning towards a medium length blunt bob for convenience. I told Priya that I typically keep my hair long with layers but my hair has been falling out more so than usual and I was thinking of going short. Because my hair is slightly wavy, Priya shared that a blunt bob might take some effort to style; she suggested keeping the length just below my shoulders and adding face framing layers along with curtain bangs. She gave me a scalp massage, washed my hair, cut it and styled it. I’m so happy with my haircut. Priya is lovely and great at what she does. Highly recommend. ~ Rajini N

Way over due!! I been coming to Pure self hair salon for some time now and I don’t know to why I never thought of leaving a review, let’s start by they are absolutely incredible! Not only that Lodina is a talented stylist, but they go above and beyond to accommodate their clients’ schedules. I had a last-minute change and Misha worked magic to fit me in without hesitation and that’s something I do all the time due to my hectic work schedule. Their professionalism and dedication to providing exceptional service are unmatched. The salon is always welcoming and the entire experience is seamless from start to finish. I’ve been going to Pure Self Salon N Spa to get wash, cuts and styles with Alison since 2015. I’ve never been disappointed. Alison is calm, friendly, and listens to clients while giving her honest input. I love how the salon uses Aveda products but has more affordable pricing than salons in Toronto. The salon is always clean and I’ve never had any issues with booking appointments or running behind schedule. I have thick, curly hair (2C/3A) and get my hair blow dried straight when I get it styled after a cut. It still looks nice when I leave my hair curly (air drying or diffusing). But with recent natural curly hair trends, I’d love to see more of what Pure Self salon stylists can do with curly, textured hair, embracing clients’ natural hair. ~ Monika D

I had an amazing experience at Pure Self Salon with Alex! I came in wanting a soft, natural-looking balayage, and Alex absolutely delivered. He took the time to listen to what I wanted, explained everything clearly, and made sure I felt comfortable throughout the process. The results were even better than I imagined—my hair looks so fresh, dimensional, and healthy! The salon itself is clean, relaxing, and beautifully set up. Everyone was super welcoming and professional, and I appreciated the little touches like offering tea and checking in regularly during the service. I’ve gotten so many compliments on my hair already! Amazing salon!!! I went to this salon on Thursday morning and got a haircut with Priya and she is .. AMAZING!!! She is super sweet and kind, but her work is phenomenal! I just got a haircut, but I’ve never had anyone do such amazing layers and face framing! And also, when you book a haircut, it’s almost an hour and a half because they do an awesome head massage when they wash your hair. My scalp has never felt so clean! I 100% recommend this salon for anyone looking for an amazing cut and style! I have also seen their colouring work and it also looks great!!! The owner of the salon is also very sweet. She washed my hair for a bit! But overall felt very welcome and was treated very well! Will be back for sure!! ~ P H

Trying a new salon and trusting someone new with my hair had me nervous, but Monica at Pure Self Salon and Spa was amazing! I got a full head of highlights and a cut, and I’m so happy with how it turned out!! Monica was super sweet, easy to talk to, and really took the time to listen to what I wanted. She made sure to understand my hair goals and came up with a realistic plan to get there. I felt totally comfortable and confident in her hands, and definitely recommend her. The rest of the staff were also so kind and helpful, which made the whole experience even better. The salon itself is clean and has such a nice vibe. I recently visited Pure Self Salon n Spa after a friend's recommendation, and I couldn’t be happier! They have an incredible selection of Aveda products, and their deals are some of the best I’ve come across. Whether you're stocking up on your favorite Aveda items or trying something new, this is definitely the place to go. I also decided to try their spa services, and they were absolutely amazing. The staff is professional, attentive, and really knows how to make you feel pampered. The ambiance is relaxing, and you leave feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. When I moved to Markham from downtown Toronto, I was worried I wasn’t going to find a salon I would be happy with. Was I ever wrong. Grace (cut/colour) and Monica (manicure/skin care) are a super team! I always walk away learn something new from them (or even other staff who are equally knowledgeable). Whether cost saving tips about shampoos that are right for me or tips on how to care for my cuticles, they explain things so clearly and give you multiple options tailored for your hair and skin. It’s not one size fits all which I so appreciate. I never really leave reviews and frankly don’t want to share but I’m compelled to in this case because you gotta share good things right?!! And bonus, they use Aveda products which was key for me. ~ Emma

I took my mom to Pure Self Salon n Spa yesterday for highlights and a haircut, and the whole experience was absolutely amazing! From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed and cared for. Misha was so helpful in guiding us on which stylist would be the best fit for my mom’s hair. I’m so glad I followed her advice — Simmy did the highlights and completely transformed my mom’s look with such beautiful, natural tones. And Alex gave her one of the best haircuts she’s ever had — fresh, stylish, and exactly what she wanted! The salon is clean, professional, and has a really calming vibe. I had a appointment with Vass on Saturday and I left feeling so impressed. I got exactly what I asked for without even using a reference photo. I have thick, coarse Asian hair that dries out pretty often from over washing. I came in with long hair without much shape/layering. I asked for an overall trim, long bangs and long layers throughout my hair to reduce the overall weight and to change the framing around my face. Vass explained his process thoroughly at every step. After the blow dry/styling, he encouraged me to come back after a week or so if I thought there were any areas I felt needed more layering. I was so satisfied with the result that I booked my next appointment for a trim in 6 months. I usually cut my hair once a year or less because I haven't found a stylist in Markham that I trust or leaves me feeling satisfied. This experience changed that! Thanks Vass! ~ CJ

I've gotten my hair cut by Allison for years now (even before she started working here), but never ventured into Pure Self because I thought it was a little above my price range. Well it was worth it! The hair cut includes a relaxing scalp massage and wash/blowdry and a thorough consultation about what you want before you dive in. The stylists always check on you during the appointment and are knowledgeable about all different hair types and styles. I was impressed by the service (they offered tea or coffee) and the friendly conversation/banter between everyone! Such a friendly and welcoming environment. I'm saving up for some colouring in the future! Love this place, and I will be back! ~ Amanda G

I had a fantastic experience! The atmosphere was welcoming, and the staff were all incredibly friendly and professional to me and my family. I was first seen by stylist Baghie who gave my hair a great wash along with a relaxing scalp massage. She even prepared a lovely cup of coffee. My stylist, Priya, took the time to understand what I wanted, and the cut and blow-dry turned out even better than I’d hoped—my hair feels healthy and looks amazing. Priya did an amazing job! I had an incredible experience with Lodina at Pure Self Salon & Spa! She did a gorgeous balayage with a blue overlay, and the results completely blew me away. Lodina made sure to understand exactly what I wanted and exceeded my expectations. This was my first time getting my hair professionally colored, and I couldn’t be happier. The complimentary hand massage by Sophia, the esthetician, using Aveda Hand Relief was also a lovely bonus. I also had a great chat with the owner, Misha, who was so warm and welcoming. Very nice clean salon, they offer you water, tea or coffee during your visit. Love that they only use Aveeda hair products. They play calm soothing music which enhances your experience and makes you feel like your at a spa. Very friendly knowelegable staff, know what they are doing. It's a small team of hairdressers and an esthetician and they all seem to do amazing work. The salon definitely provides quality work over pumping out clients. Wish they were open later and on Sundays, dont always get an appointment when I want but they always do their best to find something that will work for my schedule. ~ Vanessa D

I went here at the recommendation of a friend and was definitely not disappointed. I've had so many bad haircuts in my life so I'm always hesitant to try to new places and hadn't cut my hair in over a year. Talat did a fantastic job on my hair, she was very thorough at making sure everything was even and so nice to talk to. She gave me recommendations for products and styling tips (since I don't know how to style my hair whatsoever). My first-time experience at Pure Self Salon N Spa was excellent. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Monika did my eyebrow threading, and she shaped my eyebrows exactly how I wanted it, and she did a great job. I had a wash, haircut & style with Grace, an excellent and talented stylist. She did a fantastic job reducing the length of my hair with the perfect layers and was so gentle and patient. She has so much attention to detail, took time to style my hair, and gave the same style that I wanted. My hair looked much healthier and pretty walking out. It was my first time there and just randomly on Google I found them as they were near me. First , they were so good to give me appt for hair cut the same day. They really had good reviews and I was like there is no harm in trying. Lovedeep was the one who did the hair cut for me , she was so gentle so professional and so patient. Maria is not only a talented and knowledgeable hair stylist, but also a very compassionate individual who went above and beyond to correct the mistakes made by a different stylist. I came to Maria with a poorly executed balayage with streaky highlights at the crown, uneven foil work in several areas, and multiple inconsistent tones throughout the hair. Correcting another stylist’s work is an extremely difficult task, but Maria delivered exceptional results. She transformed my hair into a beautifully blended balayage that looks flawless, even when I wear my hair straight. Since then, I’ve received numerous compliments on my hair, all thanks to Maria’s expertise and attention to detail. I also admire and appreciate Misha, the receptionist, who is incredibly professional, understanding and caring. Her warmth and kindness made the entire experience more pleasant.
